Denise Hagan

Denise

Singer Denise Hagan joins us as a guest singer.

This Irish lass has an astonishing voice that can "reach into your soul and awaken your heart". Not to be missed.

From her song Amazing Space:
Sweet million years I've roamed this Earth in search of who I AM And still it never once occurred to Me that its right here where I stand...

In this Amazing space, Amazing Space that lies right here in Me
The treasure deep within my chest that I at last can feel

Perry Dickison joins us to sing during Sunday service.

Perry

"Perry Dickison started playing piano at the age of seven continuing through the Toronto Conservatory program and a Bachelor of music in piano and voice through UBC. Dickison has been the featured soloist with the Hamilton, Niagara and Prince George Symphony Orchestras. He has seen the world while performing on Crystal Cruise Lines and is a popular headliner on MV Explorer’s Seminar at Sea series. Dickison is a frequent guest soloist, recording artist, teacher and member of the award-winning Vancouver-based Phoenix Chamber Choir."

"What I heard over and over again is not just how great your voice is, and how amazing you are as a pianist — but the heart and soul that come through when you sing. I think you express your love through music better than anyone I’ve ever heard" (from the Peninsula News Review)

The Charter for Compassion

Update - The Charter for Compassion was released on Nov. 12, 2009. You can read it here or listen to others speak it. If you agree, Affirm the Charter on the web site.

Other Affirmers include the Dalai Lama, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Peter Gabriel, and many, many more.

Background:

This website marks the launch of an inspiring global endeavor to celebrate compassion and to promote a new collaboration between the world's religions. What we're doing, starting today, is to begin writing the Charter for Compassion that Karen Armstrong called for earlier this year when she made her  wish. And the exhilarating twist here is that the writing won't be done behind closed doors. It will be done by you... and perhaps millions of others around the world. Because we're using special collaborative web tools created by the geniuses at Kluster to enable this be truly a charter "created by the world for the world".

Later this week millions of Muslims, Christians, and Jews will be sent an email inviting them to come to the site and offer their choice of words, in their own language, to help create a charter capable of inspiring the world to focus on what the great religions share, as opposed to what divides them. Already people are responding to this amazing idea with passion and excitement. The goal is to obtain all input from global participants within the next four weeks, select the best contributions with the help of a council of religious "sages", and conduct a major launch of the finished document in 2009.

At TED2008 in March of this year, TED Prize winner Karen Armstrong was granted a wish to change the world. This is what she asked for:

"I wish that you would help with the creation, launch and propagation of a Charter for Compassion, crafted by a group of leading inspirational thinkers from the three Abrahamic traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam and based on the fundamental principles of universal justice and respect."

Since then support for idea has built among numerous religious groups, spiritual leaders such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Islamic scholar Tariq Ramadan, and Britain's first female Rabbi Julia Neuberger have joined a special Council to oversee the Charter, and Kluster, a collaborative decision making platform, has built a groundbreaking site that will allow anyone to contribute to the Charter.

F.L.O.W. - The Heart Experiment, Sunday October 4th through December.

Inspired by our meetings with Dalai Lama Peace Centre Luminaries and in harmony with our E-Book “Because I’m Worth It*

"We have met and talked for almost seven years about the beauty of soul, about living from the energy of soul moment by moment and feeling the comfort of the life force that is flowing there. Together we have shared our soul stories, our epiphanies, revelations, those moments of magic and learning.

And now we are called to weave the pearls of our soul’s journey with the wisdom of our hearts. We, Austin and Mary, were called to share our own heart journey with those luminaries who came to our city this past weekend on a mission of Peace. It’s no accident the Dalai Lama Centre for Peace is being established in Vancouver for this city has a rich legacy of pioneers going back several generations. Now we are being called to be pioneers in a movement for peace – peace in our own hearts and minds, in our intimate relationships, in our families, in our work place, in our city, in our country and beyond."

"If you have read our e-book* you will have seen how one person found a way to peace and love from what was a violent, stressful environment. We all have stresses in our lives, we all long for love and peace, and the good news is that we can have it."

(exerpts from the DYNAMIC LIVING INSIGHT #339)

Directions:
The picnic site is on the NW part of the park, about 1/2 km past Prospect Point on the left. Parking is just past the site.

From Vancouver, enter the Park off Georgia St. At the traffic circle, go around to Pipeline Rd. on the other side. Follow Pipeline to the end, then turn left on Park Drive, past Prospect Point, then look for Prospect Point Picnic Site on the left. Park there.

From the Lions Gate, take the first exit right just off the bridge. Loop around Stanley Park Dr. in the left lane. Pass Prospect Point, then look for Prospect Point Picnic Site on the left.

On foot:
The Davie bus to Denman is the closest stop. The Stanley Park bus is on the wrong side of the Causeway.

From Davie and Denman, walk left to Beach along the water and turn right. Walk along the sidewalk North into the park. Follow the seawall to the 2nd beach pool.

You then have a choice.
You can continue along the seawall past Ferguson point, then at 3rd beach, walk up the hill on the Third Beach Trail to the road. Continue up the road about another 1/2 km to the picnic area. It should be well marked.

Or:
If you prefer to walk in the forest: just past the pool, turn up the Bridle Path. Up near the top of the trail is the picnic grounds. It's about a 2.5 km walk.

If you'd like a map, here is a pdf one.

Practitioner Training and Mentorship Program of the Dynamic Centre

A Practitioner is one who consciously chooses to live a more spiritually oriented life. If you feel the call to a more fulfilled, happy, abundant, and peaceful life, consider how spiritual practice and mentoring can guide you on your path, assist you as you move through the obstacles and support you in the spiritual disciplines of wholesome transformation.

For those who are committed to take time in their daily schedule to reflect, meditate, and think upon the deeper meaning of life and the soul’s hidden agenda, expect the door of consciousness to open, breakthroughs to occur, and a new experience of spiritual wisdom and power to lift your enjoyment of life to extraordinary levels.

“No eye has seen nor ear heard what things God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians. 2: 8-10

Come and understand what it means to become spiritually disciplined; to be ‘in the world but not of it’. Sharpen your perception so you see things as they are from an inner perspective; live with clarity, and make informed choices. Connect with your higher Self, release whatever has held you back, and step into the fullness of life. Learn how to express your true gifted self by serving others in the community.

If you have a vision for a better, more spiritually oriented life, and are willing to commit to spiritual practice, this program can take you there.

Practitioner registration closes on May 31st, 2009

BEYOND SURVIVING TO THRIVING

Our program, based partly on Eric Butterworth’s book Spiritual Economics, is an exceptionally timely topic, given what we seem to be experiencing in today’s economy.

#1 From Desire to Intent, March 22
#2 From Fear to Power, March 29
#3 The Edge of a New Life, April 5
#4 The Creative Process, Apr. 19
#5 Do Something Great! - Apr 26
#6 Your Fortune Begins with You, May 3

Let’s gather together in these coming weeks and take the time to shift our awareness from the ‘what is not’ narrative all around us to how we can forge a new path that not only satisfies our immediate needs but builds the inner resources that will sustain us for the long term. Let’s invest our energy in creating new beliefs that support and empower new ways of being. This way we all thrive.

God as Substance: March 22

OMEGA POINT - Spiritual Dialogues, early March, 2009

The roots of the word dialogue can be found in to the Greek "dia" and "logos" which means "through meaning." One might think of dialogue as a stream of meaning flowing among and through a group of people, out of which may emerge some new understanding, something creative. Dialogue moves beyond any one individual's understanding, to make explicit the implicit and build collective meaning and community.

Let’s contrast dialogue with discussion. In dialogue we are interested in creating a fuller picture of reality rather than breaking it down into fragments or parts, as happens in discussion. In dialogue we do not try to convince others of our points of view. There is no emphasis on winning, but rather on learning, collaboration and the synthesis of points of view.
